Make sure that person and/or company has been there, knows what it will take and has the track record to boot. It's  great when people refer friends and family to people or companies they know and have used in the past, this potentially saves alot of your time and your money.  However, it's even better when those same people do a little bit of checking for themselves first. Do your homework on the person and/or company you do choose to work on your project and you will save yourself alot of time, money and headaches.

Why are some contractors so expensive compared to others?

Well to put it frankly, you get what you pay for. Some companies "cut corners" to cut down on the price of the bid they will give you. Using non-treated lumber, when really treated lumber should be used. Using a cheaper paint or primer. Using non American made brick or tile. I can not and will not claim in any way shape and/or form that those products won't work to complete the job. However, the difference is the longevity of the work. If you use a company that doesn't cut corners, a company that does the work as the work SHOULD BE DONE, you end up with a product that will last. In our opinions houses should be built to last 100+ years, and the less maintance the better! And while you do pay more up front, you don't have to worry and you don't have to replace like with some other companies, potentially saving you a far greater amount of money in the long run. We don't bid our job's so we have work to come back to in a few years. We bid our jobs so that you will use our company again on future projects you may have.
